HiFi DNA Tech has filed suit against the U.S. Food and Drug Administration here in U.S. Federal District Court requesting the high court overturn the FDA's denial of HiFi's petition for reclassification of its human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA detection device from the more-restrictive class III to class II.
"The FDA should be encouraging innovative companies to introduce their science-based devices to facilitate transfer of the molecular technologies developed in the past 15 years to clinical laboratories to improve patient care," said Sin Hang Lee, MD, of HiFi DNA Tech, based in Trumbull, Conn.
"Changing the classification encourages innovative companies to introduce their new devices into the market to assist clinical laboratories to perform accurate HPV genotyping, which will help the doctors give better health care to women," said Dr.
Tacoma School Board agrees to fund free full-day kindergarten
If you want smarter high school graduates, you'd better start feeding students bigger doses of reading, writing, math and even coloring right from the start, Tacoma school officials believe. So starting this fall, free all-day kindergarten will be on the menu at every public school in the city. The School Board unanimously approved the plan Thursday night. It will cost around $3 million in added teachers' salaries, learning materials, training and facilities changes during the next school year. It's an investment board members and administrators believe will pay huge dividends. "I can't wait! I can't wait!" said board member Kim Golding, sounding like an excited child, before the board unanimously approved the program. "To give Tacoma all-day kindergarten is a huge gift," she said.

Another, probably more important, reason is that the white Democratic primary voters are different. In Maryland and Virginia, they tended to be quite upscale and on the young side, especially in the big suburban counties outside Washington, D.C. In Wisconsin, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, they're much more downscale. At a time when Clinton and Obama are essentially tied in national polls, it stands to reason that if Obama is ahead in states like Maryland and Virginia, Clinton will be ahead in Wisconsin, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

E! to tell 'Tales From the Hoff'
E! is getting ready to spin some "Tales of the Hoff," a Ryan Seacrest-produced scripted comedy starring David Hasselhoff. Project -- part of E!'s previously announced move toward adding scripted programming into its mix -- will follow the fictional dark and twisted trials and tribulations of an international icon as he navigates Hollywood and the world of dating after divorce. Skein also will explore the fictional icon's attempts to reinvigorate a career steeped in the past.
