The circumstances of the 3:15 p.m. incident were nearly identical to the city's first robbery of 2008 of the same bank on January 10. In both midday crimes, a small-statured black male wearing dark clothing and a face-concealing black bandanna displayed a handgun and demanded cash. No injuries were reported in either incident.

Late Wednesday night, police charged Diedre Lynn Blackburn, 45, and her 16 year-old son with aggravated robbery. Blackburn was booked into the Williamson County jail awaiting a Thursday bond hearing. The juvenile is being held at the Williamson County Juvenile Justice Center.

Police credit several alert citizens for noting suspicious activity nearby and acting quickly to give police accurate descriptions of the suspects and an associated vehicle.

Globe High School censors its student newspaper

The readers of the New Times have not been served well. I was part of the decision to pull the December 7, 2007 Papoose and it had nothing to do with the well known term Whudafxup. Rather, as Mr. ONeal and Ms. McLoughlin knew at the time, the reason to pull the newspaper was because of an article describing how to build and use a hookah, a front page picture of a person smoking tobacco, meth or marijuana from a hookah, and quotes by children known to be under 18 talking about using tobacco. Hookahs have another name in modern culture bong the possession of which could be a felony under ARS 13-3415. It is the duty of the school administration to protect children and not to expose them to articles about how to use and build bongs. And although we cant be certain that such an article was a thinly veiled reference to the use of marijuana, it todays anti-drug culture we could not risk that liability.

Obama extends streak with wins in Hawaii and Wisconsin

In fact Obama seems to be only a wrong solution in front of terrorism, wars, and whatelse. HRC seems to be more serious and effective for USA. USA do not need Mc Cain for our global world… but an Hillary should be the one who can solve obvious problems in Irak, Afganistan…

Kiss and Tell: Smooch away for smooth relationship

Smooching is not only a sign of love and affection but, if a study is to be believed, it's also the nature's way of filtering certain people from our lives.

Researchers in the United States have carried out the study and found that information conveyed by a kiss can have profound consequences for romantic relationships, and can even be a major factor in ending one.

"In other words, while many forces lead two people to connect romantically, the kiss, particularly the first kiss, can be a deal breaker," lead researcher Prof Gordon G Gallup of the University of Albany was quoted by the 'ScienceDaily' as saying.

According to the study, sex differences also play a key role in the importance and type of kissing. While males tend to kiss as a means to an end – to gain sexual favours or to reconcile -- females smooch just to establish and monitor the status of their relationship, and to assess and periodically update the level of commitment on the part of a partner.

Microsoft's free enterprise search is a must try

Posted in:

Infrastructure Servers News Vista Desktop Microsoft

At the Heroes Happens {here} event in LA yesterday which saw the launch* of Windows Server 2008, one of the relatively hidden gems of the event in my opinion was Microsoft's free** Search Server 2008 Express. It's is a streamline install of Office SharePoint Server 2007 with almost all the enterprise search features that most users would want and is a must download for any Windows Server shop.

Even if you didn't own Windows Server 2003, 2003 R2, or 2008, it would seem like a great way to build a very cheap enterprise search engine appliance with a minimal Windows Server 2003 or above license and a simple 1U server for less than $2000 which is a LOT less than a $30K starting price Google Search Engine appliance with a 500K document cap.

2008 Harley-Davidson FXSTSSE2 Screaming Eagle Softail Springer

Exhaust exits from the right side via staggered over/under slash-cut pipes, emitting a traditional, throaty Harley rumble that's a little more pronounced than a stock bike.

The Springer front suspension lends an old school flavor to this limited edition Softail, but it is not uncomfortable - just different. To be honest, it doesn't deliver as cushy a ride up front as inverted telescopic forks, but conversely, they don't look as cool either. A traditional swing arm takes care of the rear suspension duties. Rolling stock consists of Harley-Davidson Dunlop rubber mounted on chrome Revolver 10-spoke cast aluminum profile wheels fore and aft. The front wheel is an 18-incher, while the rear sports a 17-inch wheel.

The five-gallon fuel tank is topped by a chrome instrument panel with the speedometer centered at the top, preceded by a freestanding tachometer mounted on the bars.

Win-starved Canucks host Blackhawks

The Vancouver Canucks need a win, badly.

After losing nine of their last 11 outings, the beleaguered NHL team has slipped out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The Canucks have a good chance to get back in the win column, facing off at General Motors Place on Sunday (10 p.m. ET) against the 28th-place Chicago Blackhawks, losers of five of their last six.

But the Canucks will have to overcome some obstacles, including being cursed at GM Place, where they've lost five of six games, including 6-2 Saturday to the Colorado Avalanche.

Then there's the injury-ridden Canucks blue-line.

Willie Mitchell has missed nine games with a fractured vertebra, and Kevin Bieksa is out with a lacerated calf.

The Jam are back on the road without Weller

When I joined The Gift, Bruce was still involved with Stiff Little Fingers, and a side project called Casbah Club too," says the gravelvoiced Rick. "I played with them just because I wanted to get back into drumming. We found ourselves on the same bill at a gig, so I asked Bruce if he fancied getting up and doing a couple of numbers with us, seeing as we were all in the same room," he continues. "He did, and the reaction was great, which I think convinced him to get involved more permanently."

The duo also talk of possible new material for the band, although, like the decision to get back together, it's not something they'd do if it wasn't up to scratch.

Evil burnt, govt-Cong bitterness remains

To register their protest, Congress workers burnt the effigy of Ravana on the main Amritsar-Attari road after they were not allowed by the BJP workers to carry the effigies of the three demons inside the venue. Portions of one of the effigies were also damaged when the Congress workers tried to smuggle it into the venue from the second entrance but were pushed back.

A Congress leader alleged that the district administration had assured them that both parties would jointly organise the show. However, the said change of stance of the district administration at the eleventh hour infuriated the Congress, which boycotted the function, alleging that it had been hijacked by the ruling SAD-BJP alliance. Timely intervention by Congress MLA O.P. Soni pacified the crowd of Congress supporters, some of whom appeared ready to barge into the Dussehra ground with sticks and rods.

Britney Spears' Driver's-License Case Postponed; Plus Hayden ...

Since Britney Spears isn't in control of her own affairs at the moment, she can't make a plea bargain in her driving-without-a-license case, a Van Nuys, California, judge decided Wednesday (February 20). Spears' attorney for the criminal case told the court that the singer's conservatorship attorneys don't feel she's capable of making an agreement, giving a deposition or signing a declaration at the moment, so Judge T.K. Herman continued the case until March 20. The misdemeanor charge stems from an incident in August in which Spears was videotaped hitting a parked car and leaving the scene without notifying the other driver (the hit-and-run charge was later dropped). Spears was denied visitation rights with her two sons in an unrelated hearing Tuesday. ...

Hayden Panettiere must have absorbed someone's musical powers, because the "Heroes" star is putting out a debut album later this year on Hollywood Records.
