| Streetlight 'blackouts' to come?
Critics nationwide have criticised the idea, calling it mean-spiritied and unnecessary. Streetlighting, they say, plays a significant role in preventing accidents and deterring crime and antisocial behaviour. The council, however, claim it is their duty to experiment with such cost-cutting measures. Councillor Stuart Pile, Executive Member for Highways, Environment and Rural Affairs, said: "While the idea of switching off streetlights is likely to be controversial, the huge amounts of energy involved, not to mention the cost to the taxpayer, make it incumbent upon us to try to find a way of making reductions if we can. "At this stage we are just sounding out local councils to see whether they would be in favour of the idea and willing to put it to the test for a trial period." 10:56am Tuesday 12th February 2008 Print  Email this Comment .b_box { border: 1px solid #D7D7D7; background-color: #EEEEEE; color: #000000; padding: 5px; width: 307px; } .b_box img { border: 1px solid #D7D7D7; padding: 5px; background-color: #ffffff; } .b_box a, .b_box a:visited .b_box a:active { color: #000000 !important; } .b_box a:hover { color: #FF0000 !important; } .msg_div { padding: 0px; width: 307px; clear: left; } .entry { border-left: 1px solid #D7D7D7; border-right: 1px solid #D7D7D7; padding: 5px; width: 307px; } .entry2 { border-left: 1px solid #D7D7D7; border-right: 1px solid #D7D7D7; padding: 5px; min-height: 80px; } .b_entry { border-left: 1px solid #D7D7D7; border-right: 1px solid #D7D7D7; border-bottom: 1px solid #D7D7D7; padding: 5px; width: 307px; } fieldset { margin-top: 10px; border: 1px solid #D7D7D7; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; padding: 0px; } legend { padding: 2px 6px; color: #000000; background: #EEEEEE; border: 1px solid #D7D7D7; font-weight: bold; margin-left: 10px; } .headcell { text-align: center; color: #000000; background: #EEEEEE; border-bottom: 1px solid #D7D7D7; } .headcell a:link, .headcell a:visited, .headcell a:active { color: #000000; } .headcell a:hover { color: #FF0000; } .caltab { border: 1px solid #D7D7D7; margin-top: 5px; } .year_daycell { text-decoration: underline; text-align: center; } .year_fullcell { background: #EEEEEE; border: 1px solid #D7D7D7; } blockquote { border: 2px outset #D7D7D7; } .buttonclass { background: #EEEEEE; color: #000000; } .

Meanwhile, the Department of Child Protection has banned a 16-year-old girl from working in the business after determining that she was put at risk. The DCP said that if she was found working at a Bikini Girls Massage parlour again her employers could face three years imprisonment. Nicole Drops Out of a Movie and the Crowd Goes Wild
Nicole Kidman spent some time with her girlfriends at brunch this weekend before taking a walk with her man at Bondi Beach. No surefire signs of a baby bump yet, but the rumors are starting to get even juicier. Page Six is reporting that Nicole is dropping out of her upcoming film The Reader because she doesn't want to do anything that might jeopardize her pregnancy. They are even saying photo shoots with Nic need to be rearranged so she still fits into costume. Of course everything is still speculation until we get a statement from Nicole, but it's starting to sound more like she and Keith may be the newest members of the huge Hollywood baby boom! All this and now the news that they have sold their Nashville home so they could work on their rumored other property to build a perfect farm.

I can't watch Big Ten games in my home, which really upsets me although I support Charter in their stand against the BTN. And as a season ticket holder, the 8 p.m. tip-offs take away from my enjoyment of home games. The ironic part about it all is that most of Madison can't see these 8 p.m. games on the BTN anyway. .
